About Us

The store was founded in 1998 by Patrick & Patricia Niles in West Bend, Wisconsin. In October of 2000, we moved the business to Historic Downtown Cedarburg, just 20 miles north of Milwaukee (www.cedarburg.org). Together with Patricias extensive background in baking and Patricks 40 years experience in managing retail stores and their mutual love of baking, the store was an instant hit.

Downtown Dough provides a large selection of over 1,600 different cookie cutters, along with cookie stamps, baking molds, decorating sugars, sprinkles, crystals, dragees, pearls, jimmies, non-pareils, stencils, baking supplies, kitchen gadgets, pottery, cookie jars, and many other kitchen related items.

In 2002 we were privileged to be featured in the December issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine. We have been fortunate to work with a national food stylist. She has assisted us in having our cookie cutters featured in articles in Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Parents, Womans World and Martha Stewart magazines. We have designed and built custom cutters for many customers including the Cinderella Castle for the Disneyland Anniversary Celebration and the Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine, spring 2010.

Today, as we continue to grow, our son PJ and his wife Bobbi have joined the business. PJ is our maintenance guru. He and Bobbi work in the store and whatever else needs doing. (which could be just about anything from shipping, to computer work, to greeting customers, to washing the floor). Of course, Bobbi has her regular job and then she comes here! Grandma (Patricias Mom) is our behind the scenes elf. She packs sprinkles or cuts cookies. Even does the wash when needed! Our granddaughter, Mariah, is the light in our lives! She is the creative one, planning kid events during the year and for festivals. She gets to work in the tent during festivals (which she loves). The workforce is rounded out by other family members working part time and our dedicated employees.

We firmly believe in our community. Patrick serves on several boards of local non-profit groups. He is the past president of the Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce and currently is the president of the Cedarburg Festivals. (www.cedarburgfestivals.org)

Watch for new products and other exciting changes in the future at Downtown Dough as we continue to strive to make this the go to place for everything related to cookies and more!
